NewJeans's latest airport fits are drawing mixed reactions, with netizens debating whether the use of uniforms is inappropriate or not.
On June 20, NewJeans were seen at Gimpo International Airport to fly out to Japan for their upcoming Japanese debut. NewJeans is scheduled to make their Japan debut on June 21 with two singles: "Supernatural" and "Right Now." On June 26 and 27, they will hold a fan meeting titled "Bunnies Camp 2024" at the Tokyo Dome.
For their airport fits, the girl group stunned in school uniforms. Each member had slight differences in their looks. Haerin and Danielle sported maroon ties, while Hanni, Minji, and Hyein's ties were blue. Hanni, Danielle, and Minji's skirts were a darker shade of blue, while Hyein and Haerin's skirts were more muted.
The sleeves of their blouses were also different, with Haerin and Minji wearing long sleeves, and Hanni and Hyein having short sleeves. Danielle wore a cardigan over her blouse, while Minji opted to tie her cardigan over her waist.
One thing consistent amongst all the girls is the use of black shoes. However, while Haerin, Hannie, Danielle, and Hyein opted for white long socks, Minji opted for black instead.
Some netizens loved their unique airport looks, claiming it was their best fit to date.

However, not everyone agreed. In K-pop, some groups have used the school uniform outfits for sexy concepts, leading many to see the school uniform look as inappropriate. Although NewJeans's school uniforms were modest, many couldn't shake off the feeling that the outfits were catering to a certain demographic.
NewJeans has always had a youthful, Y2K look, which means the school uniforms suit their concept. However, some female K-pop idols have worn altered versions of school uniforms, such as making blouses into crop tops or cutting the skirt too short. This has caused a shift in how school uniforms are perceived.
Many rushed to NewJeans's defense, however. They claimed that there is nothing inherently sexual about school uniforms, and the ones they are wearing are similar to what middle school and high school students wear in South Korea. Many believe that those who see a school uniform and automatically assume something is sexual need to seek help immediately.
