BLACKPINK Lisa's new music video "Rockstar" has sparked controversy following allegations of plagiarism by fashion designer Yue Yang. In a series of messages shared on Chinese platform xiaohongshu, Yang, who runs the brand A1J, expressed shock at seeing their design featured in Lisa's video without authorization.
The focal point of the dispute revolves around a star-patterned top worn by Lisa in the video. According to Yang's posts, they were never approached for permission to use their design, and were unaware of its inclusion until the video's release.
"I was surprised to see a 'rip-off' version of my design in Lisa's latest video," Yang explained in their social media posts. "I never received any communication from Lisa's team regarding the use of my design."
Following the revelations on xiaohongshu, Yang took to Instagram to further elaborate on the issue, posting side-by-side comparisons and calling out what they perceive as blatant plagiarism. The posts garnered significant attention, with supporters and critics alike weighing in on the controversy.
"I've been trying to contact Lisa's stylist since the allegations surfaced, but have not received any response," Yang stated. "This situation has led to hate messages and threats directed towards me online."
As of now, neither Lisa nor her management team at LLOUD Entertainment have issued a formal response to the accusations. The controversy continues to unfold online, with fans and observers awaiting further developments in this copyright dispute.
