J Cole "Born Sinner" Release Date June 18 In Order To Compete Against Kanye West And His "Yeezus" Album [VIDEO]

J Cole "Born Sinner" release date of June 18 matches up against "Yeezus," the newest Kanye West studio album that was released on the same day. The reason for the date was to compete with West.

The J Cole "Born Sinner" release date was June 18, marking his second studio album with Roc Nation and Columbia Records.

J Cole "Born Sinner" release date gives the album a chance to become a summer-success. The album was originally set to be released in January, because he said he "needed a little more time than that to get things done.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Cole said he self-produced a lot of the material for the album.

His first album, "Cole World: The Sideline Story," sold over 500,000 records, going gold with his debut album-release.

Jon Dolan of Rolling Stone gave the album three and half stars out of five, saying "Sometimes I brag like Hov/ Sometimes I'm real like Pac," J. Cole raps on his second LP. Sometimes he's both - a verbal powerhouse and a self-emptying truth-sayer. The flagship signee to Jay-Z's record label spins dervish rhymes over dazzling self-produced tracks (see the Outkast-sampling "Land of the Snakes"). His riffs on racism, homophobia and misogyny have more lyrical cunning than insight. But when it comes to twisting himself into Kanye-size pretzels of career-oriented real talk, he's a champ; on "Villuminati," he raps, "Beyoncé told me that she want to cop the blue Bugatti/That shit is more than what I'm worth/I think she knew it probably." Have fun at the next company picnic, homey."

Kendrick Lamar, Miguel and TLC are among some of the features on "Born Sinner."
