Video On Instagram Debuted Thursday And Users Can Now Upload 15 Second Videos They Film Themselves [VIDEO]

Video on Instagram debuted Thursday, allowing users of the app from to show their self-made videos instead of just the pictures that the Facebook-owned app is known for.

The video on Instagram debuted with a video released by Facebook. In the video, it showed that users can upload videos that are a maximum of 15 seconds and the users can make a cover-photo with a frame from the video. The video on Instagram debuted with also the background option users are allowed to use for the pictures.

In December 2011, Apple Inc. named Instagram "App of the Year" for 2011.

The video on Instagram debuted Thursday and Instagram already has over 130 million users, so Agrawal said it is easy for the app to add video to it.

"It's the most exciting thing I've seen from Facebook since they bought Instagram last year," Rakesh Agrawal, the principal analyst of Redesign Mobile said about videos now being used on Instagram in an interview with the Associated Press. "They managed to incorporate video in a way that doesn't destroy the mystique of what they already built."

Facebook purchased Instagram for $1 billion last April.

"For years, we've focused on building the best experience for sharing photos with your friends and family," Mr. Zuckerberg wrote in a statement. "Now, we'll be able to work even more closely with the Instagram team to also offer the best experiences for sharing beautiful mobile photos with people based on your interests."

Instagram has a chance to grow with the potential of video with the app.
