Former K-pop Idol Slams Fans Calling Him 'Husband': 'Stop Fantasizing, You Can't Even...'

During a live broadcast, THIS 3rd-gen idol expressed irritation after being called by fans, "husband," which led him to be criticized. Is he the wrong one here?

Recently, former EXO Tao received heated responses after giving realistic advice to his supporters.

In particular, he recently took to his Weibo for a live stream and communicated with fans. While talking with viewers, he noticed some of the comments referring to him as "husband."

While a lot of idols would be okay with it and offer them fanservice instead, Tao refuted having a pseudo-relationship with fans and brutally stated:

"Didn't I already shatter your fantasies a long time ago? You keep fantasizing. You keep saying 'husband, husband' all day long and you can't even hold (my) hands... 'husband'? It's really funny. Don't have such fantasies and live your own lives properly."

Following Tao's live broadcast, a snippet containing his remark circulated in the Chinese and Korean community, amassing over 7,000 comments.

Shockingly, even non-fans joined the debate and the majority responded negatively about him, calling him "ungrateful" and "inconsiderate."

Netizens are frustrated that this is how he treated his fans who wholeheartedly support him despite his controversies, showing their sympathy to his fandom.

Here are some of the comments:

  • "Does he have had any other achievements besides dating in the past few years while he's been in the entertainment industry?"
  • "Who cares about you?"
  • "If there are fans who still like him, they must be really die-hard fans, how can he say something like that?"
  • "Don't get mad at fans' joking comments, they're really funny."

Meanwhile, some defending him, explaining that he has the right to set boundaries between idols and fans, especially if the latter is already crossing the line.

This is not the first time that Tao received hateful comments for being honest with fans and setting boundaries.

For the past four years, Tao has been embroiled in a dating rumor with Xu Yiyang, a C-pop idol under his label. They first met in South Korea as artists under SM Entertainment. They later on met again in China and were spotted "dating" many times.

Despite this speculation, the two never made any official statement about it and when fans expressed their anger that Tao wasn't confirming nor denying, the male idol made them repulsed after stating that it is not his responsibility to tell them anything about his personal relationships, nor they can force him to admit anything about his dating life.
