‘Avengers 2’ Rumors [LISTEN]: Joss Whedon Says Quicksilver ‘Is Going To Be In Our Movie, He’s Going To Be Dope’ On ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ Press Tour

"Avengers 2" news continues to leak out; just yesterday Robert Downey Jr. was confirmed to star in "Avengers 2" and "Avengers 3," and a few days ago Joss Whedon, who directed "The Avengers," admitted that beloved villain Loki would not return to "Avengers 2."

Whedon has been making the press rounds promoting his indie film "Much Ado About Nothing," allowing interviewers to ask about his upcoming superhero efforts, "Avengers 2" and the Marvel TV series "Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D."

When speaking to Total Film on his press tour, Whedon said that he planned to see DC Comics' "Man of Steel" to make sure that his upcoming Marvel films didn't inadvertently copy the plotlines, ComicBookMovie reported.

"When you're making a large scale superhero film and a large scale superhero film comes out, you have to go and see it to make sure you're not imitating it. That you don't have a giant plot point or set piece that is exactly the same as yours," Whedon said. "And it does happen a lot and we say, 'Oh, we better zig instead of zag.' You have to watch for that, but also, to get a bit of inspiration. You either have a great time or you think, 'Well, I can top that,' but I'm definitely going to have a great time."

But fans of Whedon's "Avengers" were more excited about Whedon's confession that he doesn't care that Bryan Singer, the director of "X-Men: Days of Future Past," alreaady cast Quicksilver, whom Whedon had planned to feature in "Avengers 2."

Some thought that Whedon would write Quicksilver out of the plot and feature a different Marvel superhero in the new "Avengers," but Whedon denied that he took Singer's announcement to heart.

When asked if he cared about the "X-Men" double-booking of Quicksilver in the interview with Total Films, he said, "I don't. I really... you know what, I'm doing my thing and I'm very excited about my thing."

In a different podcast interview with Empire, Whedon was asked how he usually responds to questions about the Quicksilver controversy.

"He's in our movie, he's going to be dope. Quicksilver and Scarlet [Witch] are very close to my heart, because they were Avengers the whole time I was reading the book as a kid," Whedon explained. "Sometimes they were evil, sometimes they were good; they're very textured, they're very different from everybody else in the mix."

And responding to questons about how the Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, a brother-sister team, would change the dynamic of the Avengers, Whedon said, "They're not there to make things easier for the Avengers."

"Kick-Ass" star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the favorite to play Quicksilver in the "Avengers 2." But, he has also been linked to the role of Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey," which his wife, Sam Taylor Johnson, has just been confirmed to direct.

Aside from Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, the cast of "Avengers 2" remains unconfirmed.
