NewJeans Hanni's 'Sexy' Pre-Debut Dance Video Has SOURCE MUSIC Under Fire: 'Is This Right For A Minor?'

Hanni's "sexy" pre-debut dance practice during her trainee days at SOURCE MUSIC caught the attention of netizens, leading SOURCE MUSIC to take the brunt of fans' anger.

Before being included in ADOR, NewJeans members were under SOURCE MUSIC, the former agency of the disbanded group GFRIEND, and the current agency housing LE SSERAFIM. The K-pop community came across a clip showing Hanni's dance practice with the company.

On July 23, netizens gathered in an online thread titled, "After Seeing This, I'm Glad NewJeans Never Debuted In Source Music." The author then uploaded a clip showing Hanni dancing to a sexy concept indicated through her leggings, heels, and sultry dance moves.

The comments section was filled by enraged K-Netz, who criticized SOURCE MUSIC for making the idol do a sexy concept despite being underage. Some expressed relief that Hanni debuted in ADOR instead of SOURCE MUSIC.

  • "Agree, why would you make kids wear heels?"
  • "I hate the fact that they made her wear leggings too."
  • "I'm thankful she debuted with ADOR."
  • "Is this right for a minor to do?"
  • "Wow, What a relief."
  • "That's crazy. That's Hanni? Ah, I hate this so much, this is our kid, what?"
  • "But they make all of them wear heels and dance to sexy songs."
  • "Me too, I find this part a bit..."
  • "Is it right to make a minor dance like that to evaluate them?"

International fans also expressed frustration over Source Music and Dispatch's decision to make the clip public. The majority called out the agency for its "inappropriate" actions.

  • "The people complaining about minors debuting are very silent about these videos. No one in their right mind should've released these especially since the members did not consent. F**k Dispatch & SouMu."
  • "SouMu humiliated this poor girl by giving this to Dispatch. Why did SouMu do it? The video of 'Attention' practice was enough to media play against MHJ."
  • "So when is SOURCE MUSIC getting sued? An actual lawsuit for their inappropriate behavior involving minors on multiple accounts should be made. I don't care. Disgusting company."
  • "There was no need to share such videos and there was no reason to pick this choreography too. I even question why tf were these videos still kept when they debuted already?"
  • "Same company that had Eunchae humping the floor in skintight athletic wear at 15. Not surprised."
  • "But MHJ also had them singing about their cookies when they were underage."
  • "Hanni was like 17 when NewJeans debuted, so how much younger could she have been here? This is crazy, they should've never released this."

In other news, Hanni recalled her trainee days upon hearing IU's song "Above The Time" at the latter's "H.E.R" World Tour at the KSPO Dome, in Seoul. To know more about her revelation, click here!
