The Only Non-HYBE Artist Supported by the Label Slammed For Being 'Anti-feminist" And Catering To 'Incel' Fans

The Only Non-HYBE Idols Supported by Label Was Known for Being 'Anti-Feminist' + 'Incel' Fans QWER/Instagram

While K-pop girl groups like aespa and NMIXX were heavily criticized in HYBE's internal report, the only female act praised by the label recently gained attention online for the wrong reasons.

Recently, the K-pop world was in turmoil after HYBE, the parent company of affiliate labels Pledis, Source Music, ADOR, Belift Lab, and more, was caught sabotaging its idols and competitors' artists.

With the release of the 18,000-page internal report from HYBE to the public, K-Netz and fans were surprised how the only team that was praised by the corporation in the midst of the pool of hateful comments was QWER.

The four-member act was formed through the YouTube series "QWER show," which aimed to build a team comprising of well-known online personalities: Chodan, Magenta, Hina, and Siyeon.

Since their debut in October 2023, the quartet's music stood out for being heavily influenced by rock genre elements and rose to the charts with songs "T.B.H" and "Discord."

In the internal report, HYBE mentioned QWER while badmouthing TripleS.

"Shockingly, even if it's a project created to cater fellow 'incel' fans, QWER had at least a 'growth' storyline through their hand-sync stage at the LoL World Cup pre-event."

In theqoo, K-Netz couldn't help but laugh in disbelief. They wrote how they were not even surprised that HYBE showed support to a group with a history of being "anti-feminist," powered by "incel" fans.

Back in April, Chodan was heavily criticized for publicly showing that she detests feminists and called them "crazy btches."

In the same month, her co-member Siyeon was also caught in a controversy for implying that women only "get married to fulfill their duty of giving birth."

People claimed that there is no wonder HYBE, who said misogynistic remarks about other K-pop girl groups celebrating "females," will support QWER.

In the online community, netizens wrote:

  • "Bang Si Hyuk is a fanboy."
  • "It's surprising how consistent your tastes are."
  • "They suit each other so well."
  • "Actually, as soon as Bang Si Hyuk saw QWER, he contacted the producer directly (to recruit) *sarcasm*"
  • "Aren't most of QWER songs written by HYBE composers except for Jeon Soyeon's new song? They always keep linking them up with some idol band to promote them, but after seeing this, I'm really getting a kingly feeling."
