G)I-DLE's Minnie believes in the power of hard work and perseverance.
That's why, she explained in a guest appearance on the YouTube channel CU's episode titled "Minnie and Miyeon's Honest Talk: Revealing the Truth About Each Other," her family wealth didn't come into play in her career.
The 27-year-old singer -- real name Nicha Yontararak -- addressed rumors that she'd grown up as a Thai heiress, following leaks that she comes from a well-to-do family.
Inquisitive fans pointed to photos of Yontararak's family home floating on the idol's social media, which, as it turns out, shaped up to be more like a family mansion.
Yontararak, however, doubled down on her beliefs that her upbringing had nothing to do with her career trajectory.
"We did live somewhat comfortably, but my parents didn't fully support me financially. I'm not a rich kid," she said candidly to host Miyeon. "I don't rely on their money."
Playfully, Miyeon inquired about the copious G)I-DLE lyrics that glamorize wealth and success.
"But your lyrics in MY BAG talk about being rich. Isn't that your concept?" she asked teasingly.
Mildly, Minnie explained that she played no role in the music and that the lyrics in no way reflects her personal beliefs.
"Soyeon wrote those lyrics. I always say I need money. I act according to the song's concept, but in reality, I need money too," she said playfully.
The two riffed on the fundamental need and simultaneous struggle of money.
"Even if you have money, humans always need more," Miyeon said.
"How can anyone not need money? I need a lot of money," Minnie joked, feigning counting cash.
The G)I-DLE main vocalist made her solo debut in January with her first mini-album HER. The seven-track project contains features from groupmate and singer-songwriter YUQI, as well as fellow Thai idol Ten, main dancer and vocalist of boy group NCT.
