The much-anticipated 2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon finally transpired on January 29 and 30 following the postponement of its New Year's Eve schedule.

Upon airing, the festival quickly became a hot topic online for its star-studded performances and outstanding collaborations that transcended various K-pop generations.

The event was also led by the industry's top centers and visuals, such as Girls' Generation's YoonA, SHINee's Minho, and TWS' Dohoon, collectively known as "The Centerz."

During the event, an unexpected moment occured when the MCs recited a familiar tagline, "Wanna be our star," leaving ASTRO's fans, AROHAs, flustered.

For context, the phrase "Wanna be your star" is ASTRO's signature introduction, and fans swiftly took to X to express their confusion.

While it's not uncommon for taglines to overlap in the music industry, AROHAs felt frustrated since the MCs are idols themselves. They were even more surprised that MBC, which closely collaborates with idols, seemed unaware of the catchphrase deeply tied to ASTRO's identity.

In K-pop, an introductory greeting is crucial as it determines the group's unique identity and sets them apart from numerous acts in the music scene.

Adding to AROHAs' disappointment was the fact that member Cha Eun Woo has worked with MBC for years. Fans stated that MBC not properly crediting his group is a blatant disrespect.

As a result, the fandom is urging MBC to apologize to ASTRO for "stealing" the tagline.
