K-pop sensation Lisa from the internationally renowned group BLACKPINK is poised to make history as the first K-pop artist to perform at the Academy Awards.
The Thai superstar is set to take the stage at the 97th Oscars ceremony on March 2. She will be appearing alongside American rapper Doja Cat and British singer Raye. The trio recently collaborated on the song "Born Again," which is a track off of Lisa's upcoming album, Alter Ego.
It is unclear if the group will perform the song. An announcement from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said that Lisa, Doja Cat, and Raye will perform "a showstopping celebration of cinema." If they perform "Born Again," it will be the first time the song has been performed live.
The K-pop idol's appearance at the Oscars will mark the first time a K-pop artist is performing at the ceremony. It will also come just days after her first-ever full-length album, Alter Ego, is set to release.
Three global superstars. One epic #Oscars moment. Doja Cat, LISA of Blackpink, and RAYE take the stage for a showstopping celebration of cinema.

Lisa's Oscars performance adds to her impressive list of achievements. As a member of BLACKPINK, she has already broken barriers by performing at Coachella and collaborating with international artists like Lady Gaga. Her solo debut in 2021 with "Lalisa" shattered records, including the most-viewed music video by a solo artist in 24 hours, according to Guinness World Records.
Her appearance at the Academy Awards will round off a list of star-studded performers. Other confirmed stars for musical performances throughout the celebration include "Wicked" stars Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Queen Latifah.
The Oscars, which will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, will be broadcast live by ABC beginning at 7 p.m. ET on March 2. The ceremony will also be live-streamed on Hulu. Conan O'Brien will be hosting the Academy Awards for the first time.
