Robert Pattinson Invites '50 Shades of Grey' Author E.L. James To Gatsby Party, But Not Kristen Stewart

Robert Pattinson threw a huge "Gatsby" style bash on Saturday night to support his filmmaker friend, "Arbitrage" director Nick Jarecki's birthday.

But while 50 Shades of Grey author, E.L. James was in attendance, Rob's ex, Kristen Stewart, was no where to be found.

Singer/songwriter Todd Michael Schultz tipped off HollywoodLife.com as to who was in attendence at Pattinson's bash.

"E.L. James was there, she was really cool. Dianne Warren, the songwriter was there. Lisa Zane sang a few songs. Warren Beatty was there, chilling with E.L. James."

Pattinson has long been rumored as a possible lead in the 50 Shades of Grey movie adaptation of James' astronomically popular book series.

But remember that it was James who shot down the rumors in August last year, when she said in an interview she doesn't want Rob or Kristen Stewart in either of the lead roles.

There's no danger of Stewart and Pattinson signing on as a pair since they've split, but Rob isn't the worst choice for the controlling Christian Grey character in the light BDSM romp of a book.

But HollywoodLife.com mentions that they dropped an exclusive back in April saying that Alex Pettyfer would the choice to inherit Christian's world of sexual control, which has thrilled a largely female fanbase the world over.

Todd Michael Schultz is the boyfriend of acclaimed American Psycho author, Brett Easton Ellis, and he actually had a chance to discuss the lack of intimacy in Los Angeles with Rob because everyone lives so far away from one another.

The quotes don't exactly make Rob seem lonely, but he does have a lot of friends in England, rather than LA.

Still, as a loner, R Patz might just be trying to get into the Christian Grey character he's been secretly hoping E.L. James, and the recently announced director, Sam Taylor-Wood, offer him.

We'll see, but how do you think Robert Pattinson would do as Christen Grey in the movie adaptation?
