LeBron James Shoe Release Shooting In Atlanta: One Man Killed As He Allegedly Pickpockets Customers Waiting In Line

LeBron James shoe release shooting leaves man dead who allegedly was attempting to pickpocket customers on line for James's new shoe Saturday in Atlanta.

The LeBron James shoe release shooting took place when a group of people were waiting before dawn to purchase the new LeBron X Denim on its first day of release.

Police told reporters that one man was trying to pickpocket the people in line outside the shoe store during the LeBron James shoe release shooting. It reached a point when one man allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the man doing the pickpocketing.

LeBron James was coming off his second consecutive NBA finals MVP trophy as the Miami Heat won game-seven in the NBA finals against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday.

"A number of witnesses were interviewed and this appears to be self-defense," Carlos Campos told reporters.

According to the reports, the people in line continued to wait in line, including the person who allegedly pulled out the gun and shot the man pickpocketing during the LeBron James shoe release shooting. When police showed up, the group said it was self-defense because that man was attacking the shooter prior to the person pulling out the gun.

Taylor White was one of the customers in line and he told CNN affiliate WSB-TV that the would-be robber should have thought twice.

"I didn't even expect him to come up here, thinking it was that sweet. Thinking it's that candy land like that," White said. "He wanted to pickpocket everybody. But people out here, they weren't going for none of that."
