As the Mad Men Season 6 finale, "In Care Of" begins, Don Draper wants to chart a new frontier. At first, it seems like California, where he plans to set up a satellite Sterling Cooper & Partners agency in Los Angeles.

But by the end of the finale, it's revealed that Dick Whitman is the new frontier, when Don reveals his old identity for the first time to his coworkers and kids.

By the end of the episode, Don is fired from Sterling, Cooper & Partners. It's a bombshell many were not expecting. But Don has been tanking for, well, a while, becoming increasingly alcoholic and erratic.

Don's pitch to the Hershey company seems picture-perfect, a bucolic suburban father-and-son story...then he drops the lie and tells the truth about his Hershey memories: that he stole money from prostitutes in the whorehouse where he grew up to buy Hershey bars.

Then he brings his kids there. Really.

Megan leaves Don, too. Word is out on how Don and Sally will do-but perhaps better, now that he's trying not to lie, even if it hurts him.

However, Sally gets suspended from boarding school for drinking. Uh-oh. Maybe alcoholism runs in the family?

Ted goes out to LA instead of Don. After sleeping with Peggy, he decides to go back to his wife and children and put distance between Peggy and himself. Oh, and Peggy wears a saucy, saucy dress.

Pete's mom dies, most likely killed by Manolo, the creepy nurse.

The last shot of Peggy is of her in Don Draper's office, wearing pants, shot Don Draper style. Pretty obvious there, but lovely. The credits roll over Judy Collins' cover of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now," which makes the newly bicoastal nature of the show also pretty obvious, but also lovely.

The Mad Men finale takes place around Thanksgiving, making season 6 about 11 months long.
