Scottie Pippen Fight In Malibu Leads To Police Questioning After He Punched Autograph Seeker, Sending Him To Hospital

Scottie Pippen, the 47-year-old Hall-of-Fame sidekick for Michael Jordan on the Chicago Bulls, was NOT arrested for felony assault today after punching an autograph seeker who wouldn't stop pestering his family.

This comes despite some earlier media reports claiming Pippen had been charged with felony assault, but they're wrong, accordng to the USA Today's David Leon Moore.

"Our detectives are not going to book and arrest Mr. Pippen," said L.A. County Sheriff's Department Capt. Pat Davoren. "He came in and was very cooperative and answered a lot of questions. Our detectives have to do further investigating, mainly talking to other witnesses."

The Pippen fight occured outside Malibu's trendy sushi restaurant Nobu on Sunday night at 6:30 p.m.

According to a supposed police report obtained by TMZ (so take it with a grain of salt), the victim was in his 50's and was knocked out after Pippen punched him.

Some outlets are claiming that Pippen continued to kick the man when he was down, but that's not verifiable after TMZ's earlier report proved false.

Also according to TMZ, the 50-year-old male victim suffered broken teeth, a swollen mouth, as well as back and head injuries, but he was released on his own recognizance on Monday morning.

TMZ earlier claimed Pippen turned himself into authorities in Malibu, and that he was being formally charged with felony assault with intent to cause serious bodily harm.

This turns out to be false, with USA Today saying that Pippen had gone to speak with the police involved in the incident and was not charged, as Captain Pat Deveron made clear.

According to Deveron, the victim allegedly hounded Pippen for an autograph inside the restaurant and again when his family left the popular eatery after finishing up their meal.

He also started snapping photographs.

Pippen and the man argued with Pippen getting upset and allegedly punching the man in the face.

Pippen walked into the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff's station early Monday afternoon with celebrity defense attorney, Mark Geragos, by his side, reports USA Today.

The Pippen fight did not result in an arrest of Pippen or the other man at this time.

The 6'8" 220 lbs. Scottie Pippen won 6 NBA Championships with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in the early- and mid-1990s.
