PC Games To Hit iPhone and Android Mobile Phones; ‘Age of Empire’ from Microsoft To Become a Free-To-Play Title For iOS and Android Devices Soon

PC games as well as Microsoft Xbox' titles will soon be available to iPhone and other smartphone devices.

Microsoft Corporation has just announced that it will offer its PC games and Xbox titles for Apple and Android devices. Some of the Xbox and PC games will be made available for Apple devices such as the iPhone, as well as smart phones that are currently running with Google's Android operating system.

According to a CNET report which cited Reuters, Microsoft, through a partnership with the Japanese smart phone game developer will be offering its console and Windows-based PC games to Apple and Android devices by the end of the fiscal year 2013 and the first title revealed was the "Age of Empires" while other game titles will follow. The game will be a free-to-play title, and it will be made available worldwide for users of Apple and Android smart phones.

However, a spokesperson from Microsoft told CNET  that "Age of Empires' is the only PC game to be launched for iOS and Android mobile devices. The spokesperson stated, "Today, KLab Inc. announced a licensing agreement with Microsoft Corp. to develop a mobile version of Microsoft Studio's 'Age of Empires' franchise, which will be initially developed in English for iOS and Android and launched globally, with plans to release the game in other languages and on Windows Phone in the future. Some reports included incorrect information about additional Xbox Live-based games on iOS and Android but there are no further announcements beyond 'Age of Empires' at this time."

Currently, only the Microsoft's Windows Phone has access to a myriad of PC games and Xbox titles like Real Soccer 2013, Civilizaton Revolution, Asphalt 7 Heat, Ice Age Village, N.O.V.A 3 and more and iOS and Android devices only have limited access to these games. However, this latest development from Microsoft would seem to be such good news for owners of iPhone and Android smart phones.
