As 'Doctor Who' Season 8 Loses Matt Smith, Will Jenna-Louise Coleman Have A Say In Who Should Be The Next Doctor?

As "Doctor Who" fans continue to process the news of Matt Smith's departure, rumors are flying rampant as to the actor who will play the 12th Doctor once season eight arrives next year, the latest being "Skyfall" star Ben Whishaw.

"It's not going to be me. But I don't mind. I don't think you can be Q and Doctor Who," the 32-year-old actor told the Daily Mail.

"It would be a bit wrong."

In addition, some have speculated that after Smith fulfills his Doctorly duties following the 50 Anniversary and Christmas Special, a non-Caucasian actor might step in as a sign of progression.

As such, David Harewood ("Homeland") and Idris Elba ("Luther," "The Wire") have both been brought up as potential candidates.

"It's only rumors but it's amazing to be attached to such an iconic role. It would be extraordinary if the BBC were to make me the first black Doctor Who, it would be extraordinary," said Harewood during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"But I'm almost scared to make any comment whatsoever."

But through all this, what does Jenna-Louise Coleman, who plays the latest companion Clara Oswin, think about all this?

"I am going to miss him. It is sad. He is a special man, wonderful in so many ways. We had such a great chemistry," said Coleman on Smith's departure.

Considering the 27-year-old actress unofficially confirmed her stay for season 8 once it premieres fall of 2014, perhaps she might want a say in who will become her new leading man.

"I don't want to speculate. That's up to the producers."
