Tragedy Strikes 'X Factor USA': Demi Lovato Mourns Father's Death On Twitter, Will Simon Still Keep Her For The 2013 Season?

"X Factor USA" just started shooting its 2013 season, but co-judge Demi Lovato was forced to pull out of promotional activities for the show to mourn the loss of her father, Patrick Lovato.

Since his passing, Demi has taken to Twitter to celebrate his life, and has been met with condolences from fans and celebrities alike.

Patrick, 53, reportedly battled cancer the past few years. It is unconfirmed whether this was the cause of his passing. The tragedy caused 20-year-old Lovato to miss an "X Factor" photoshoot, though Simon was hopeful for the upcoming season.

"Something has definitely changed this year, I don't know what it is. The first two years we were learning to make the show but we never really made the show I wanted to make," said the 53-year-old "American Idol" alum to FOX News.

"This year something has clicked, something has changed. I am feeling more confident. I am definitely not going to predict any numbers [but] I've got a good feeling."

Joining Lovato was joined by new judging addition Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio.

It is uncertain how much this tragedy will conflict with Lovato's commitments to "X Factor," but hopefully she can have the time to grief without endangering her position.

Our thoughts go out to Demi and her family.
