Pokemon Comes To Real Life [VIDEOS]: Live Action Movie, Parody, And…Musical?

As Nintendo gets ready to release its next generation of Pokemon games, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, let's not forget about those who dare to dream of bringing the pocket monsters into real life and beyond.

Here's a roundup of some of the best, and most awkward, live action adaptions of the popular franchise.

Two months ago, a fake trailer based on the 1999 Pokemon Snap was released on Youtube by GrittyReboots.

This hilariously intense trailer includes the famed Pokemon Island, motorized buggy Zero-One, and even Professor Oak.

Another Youtube phenomenon that has turned into a well-received franchise is "Pokemon in Real Life," a parody series produced by Youtube blogger Smosh.

Much like the Pokemon Snap movie trailer, this series is all about how Pokemon might look if it came to life, and how silly that might look given the escapist and fantastical nature of the games.

Check out episode one below:

Since the first episode was published two years ago, Smosh has featured more episodes, as well a fake trailer of his own.

But nothing quite compares to the idea of turning a popular video game or animated series...into a musical.

Granted, this hasn't been done in recent memory, but older fans might just remember a little thing called "Pokemon Live!"

"Pokemon Live!" was a musical stage show that toured the U.S. from September 2000 to January 2001. The story was based off of the early journeys of Ash Ketchum, Misty, and Brock, and the production featured some impressive puppetry work.

Just last year, Chris Mitchell, the production stage manager of the tour, began uploading videos regarding the musical, including a 23-minute making-of clip.

In addition, Mitchell also uploaded the entire musical (in 7 parts) for Pokemon fans to enjoy!

Which live adaptation is your favorite?
