Larry Bird Returning To Pacers In Front Office Position After Exactly One Year Away [Video]

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Larry Bird is returning to the front office for the Indiana Pacers, after retiring from his position at the end of last season.

Bird retired last year just days after winning the NBA's 2012 Executive of the Year award.

And Wojnarowski made it official after the tweets, writing a quick piece about Bird's return.

League sources told Yahoo! Sports, the Pacers will formally announce Bird's return at a news conference at 10 a.m. ET Thursday, which just so happens to be one year to the day after he resigned his position with the franchise.

Larry Bird actually coached the Pacers from 1997-2000, and returned to the franchise after a few years off in 2003 to be their President.

As noted up top, he was the NBA's 2012 Executive of the Year, before resigning from his position on June 27, 2012 listing health concerns as his primary reason for walking away.

Bird battled ankle and back issues throughout his Hall-of-Fame playing career with the Boston Celtics, and his body as struggled even when he moved upstairs to management.

Long time partner, Donnie Walsh, returned to the Pacers and replaced Bird in the front office this past 2012/13 season.

The Pacers pushed the eventual 2013 NBA Champion Miami Heat to 7 games in the Eastern Conference Finals, only to get blown out at Miami's AmericanAirlines Arena in game 7.

Looks like Bird's back to try and help the Pacers get over the hump and secure their first NBA Title in franchise history.
