Miscrosoft Corp revealed new details and features of Windows 8.1 update, formerly known as Windows Blue.

Yesterday, June 26, Microsoft has finally launched the Windows 8.1 update during the Microsoft Build developer conference held in San Francisco. The company revealed full details of their latest operating system update including its new features and improvements, as it unveiled the Windows .

According to ABC News Go, eight new Windows 8.1 features will come later this year such as the return of the highly-missed Start Button. Tech Radar noted that the big headline about the Windows 8.1 update is the comeback of the Start Button, though it will still be placed at the Start Screen, and not on the Start menu.

Windows 8.1 updates will also create changes to backgrounds and lock screen; a redesigned app store, provide new paint and camera apps, offer more options for tile sizes, and a lot more.  

Microsoft 8.1 release date for the final version may likely be at some point during the Christmas season 2013, according to Pocket-Lint, as it will also be in time for the first anniversary of Windows 8. For the meantime, Microsoft released a preview version of Windows 8.1 update and it is now available for download.

IT PRO cited the statement of Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft during the developer's conference: "We put Windows 8 systems in the market at the end of last year, and yet what you see and what we will show you...is a heck of a lot of movement, innovation and responsiveness all coming to market in a very [short] timeframe [with Windows 8.1].,"

Furthermore, Ballmer shared that the company was "refining the blend" between modern user interfaces and desktop, making sure that the design for the Windows 8.1 updates and enhancements will "make the change between the two interfaces far less jarring."
