Odin Lloyd Murder Case: Was Aaron Hernandez On Drugs When He Killed The Football Player? Ex-Patriots Star Bought Rolling Papers The Night Of The Alleged Murder

Aaron Hernandez, the ex-Patriots star who was charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd, purchased rolling papers the night he allegedly killed the Boston Bandits player, raising rumors the NFL star might have been on drugs.

The NFL player purchased Bubblicious gum and rolling papers, a commonly used medium for smoking marijuana, at 2:10 a.m., according to Yahoo! Sports.

Aaron Hernandez had a record of excessive marijuana use and violation of drug test policies while playing for the New England Patriots.

He was suspended for one game during his Gators career for failing a drug test; a scout said a suspension isn't usually handed down until the third or fourth failed test, the Boston Globe reports.

"It was pretty well known that he had failed some drug tests at Florida, and there were questions about his maturity that come along with that," the scout told the Boston Globe.

"You worried about the people he hung out with."

Another scout, who worked for an AFC team before the 2010 draft, also told the newspaper that Aaron Hernandez's marijuana and character problems were the worst-kept secret in the scouting community.

"[Hernandez] was extremely young when he got there for us, we knew that, but it seemed like he had turned a corner and was maturing," the former Gators staffer told the Boston Globe.

"We knew there were things to work through. Hard-working kid, guys on team loved him. He's a tough guy; he didn't take crap off anybody, but never to the lines of what's being talked about [now]."

No legal announcements involving the possible use of drugs during the murder have been made.
