Nexus 7 2 Tablet Release Date, Rumors, Specs: T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T To Carry Google’s Next-Gen Device This July, May Run Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie

Google's follow-up to the well-reviewed Nexus 7, which may be called the Nexus 7 2, is expected to have a release date this July.

The name of Google's Nexus 7 2 is still unconfirmed, with suggestions also including Nexus 7.2 and Asus K009. Asus is the manufacturer for the Google Nexus tablet device. Rumors of the next-gen model being called Asus K009 began when the FCC listed a new device under that heading.

Rumors suggest that the Google Nexus 7 2 will have an affordable price and be offered as a 4G LTE version by the top three mobile carriers in the U.S. - Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile.

The Nexus 7 2, according to the FCC Asus tablet filing, has been tested for LTE bands including 2, 4, 5, 13 and 17.

T-Mobile uses band 4; Verizon, band 13 and AT&T, band 17, reports the International Business Times.

Additional rumored specs include a 1080p display, a Snapdragon 600 processor, and the latest Android Jelly Bean update, which may even be Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, according to Auto-O-Mobile.

The Nexus 7 2 may have a Qualcomm processor instead of the original Nexus 7's Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad Core Processor, but such a move would likely up the price of the device. So, Google could opt for the Snapdragon instead, according to Auto-O-Mobile.

Tech experts have said that if the Nexus 7 2 can keep its price at the same level as its predecessor, Google could have another best selling device on its hands with the next-gen Nexus 7.
