The Fifty Shades movie cast has become a top Hollywood news item for months, since Focus Features has won the film rights for E.L. James’ mega bestseller, Fifty Shades Of Sexy.

The film’s producer has finally divulge the release date of Fifty Shades and “Man of Steel” star Henry Cavill is being rumored to play Christian Grey in the much-awaited flick, with Emma Watson as Grey’s love interest, Anastasia Steele.

Focus Features announced the release date of book-to-film flick on their twitter account Thursday posting, "The global release of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' will start in North America on Friday, August 1st, 2014 with opening dates around the world to be announced. The Focus Features domestic theatrical release will be in theaters nationwide. Universal Pictures International is releasing the movie in the rest of the world."

The two main characters for the movie, 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey and 22-year-old Anastasia Steele, who Grey falls in love with, is still unknown. And heaps of rumors on who the actors might be for the role has been a major rumor mill topic in Tinseltown.

Numerous names aside from Cavill have been floated for the Christian Grey part, including Magic Mike actor Alex Pettyfer, who reportedly even did a screen test with alleged Fifty Shades director Gus Van Sant. His name, however, is no longer in the “hot list” of possible Christian Grey contenders.

Internet rumors on the possible Christian Grey also include Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, and Robert Pattinson from the Twilight series of films.

Based on numerous speculations, it seems Emma Watson is the favorite contender for the part of Anastasia Steele.

Other actresses rumored to play Grey’s beloved, Anastasia, include Alexis Biedel and Mila Kunis.
