Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Release: Samsung Galaxy S4 Owners Can Install Google's Leaked Android Test OS

Details about the official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release date are still blurry, but those who have already got their hands on certain models of the  Samsung Galaxy S4 can now get a feel of what's inside Google's upcoming OS.

According to GSM Arena, owners of the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, the Snapdragon-powered I9505 Samsung Galaxy S4 (600 chipset), or even just the regular 19505 Galaxy S4 can now experience the yet-to-be-released official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean by installing the "leaked Google Play Edition's test Android 4.3 ROM." According to the report, writers from GSM Arena have already tried it and found the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean test version fully functional, though some minor glitches were found in the system.

The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release for the test version should work fine on the above devices for users "who aren't afraid to mess around with flashing their ROM and voiding their warranty," Tech Crunch noted. This is because the ROM cannot be installed through Odin and will void the warranty once the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean has been installed. GSM Arena also informed those interested to install the test OS to root their mobile phone first and set up a custom recovery before they "flash the leaked ROM through it."

The report from Tech Crunch also noted that it was SamMobile that first found out about the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean test version release, as the OS was running on the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S4. The photos (posted above) from SamMobile depict an updated interface for the camera, together with some enhancements and tweaks to the general user interface.

Nevertheless, Tech Crunch noted, "the look of 4.3 is very similar to the look of 4.2, the current version of Jelly Bean and the latest officially acknowledged by Google."

Unlike what was expected, Google did not make any announcement regarding Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release during its I/O event this year. Even though there were no official remarks that an Android 4.3 is already in development, there were test builds spotted last month on the hardware of Nexus 4.
