Channing Tatum Baby Drama: Wife Giving Birth Gave Him ‘Crying Fits,' 'Magic Mike' Actor Respects Women More And Calls Men ‘Useless’

Channing Tatum may play a tough police officer protecting the President of the United States in his new movie "White House Down," but in real life the 33-year-old actor is a big softie when it comes to his baby and wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum.

On Thursday, Channing spoke to Chelsea Handler about being overcome with emotion while watching his wife give birth to their first child, Everly, earlier this month, Us Weekly reports.

"I probably went to the bathroom four times and had a crying fit," he told the "Chelsea Lately" host. "Like, I'm just like, 'I don't know what to do!'"

The first-time dad said he gained a lot of respect for his wife and women after the birthing process.

"There is a real reason why God did not give, like, [guys] this ability to have babies," he said. "Because we would not be able to do it. You guys, I don't know how you do it. It's a real thing. It's like National Geographic animal-style, for real. I don't get it."

He admitted the scariest part of the process was seeing his beloved wife in pain but not being able to help her. "It's like someone's hurting, someone that you love, and you can't do anything about it. You physically cannot help," he explained.

"I'm still not helping -- and the baby's out!" he joked. "Men are useless, but we are really useless during this. The baby's gonna come out whether you're there or not."

At the New York premiere for "White House Down," Channing dished that being a new father is "terrifying."

"...I can tell you that being a new dad is pretty terrifying," he laughed. "...To me as a new father, nothing is more important or scary than protecting a daughter."

White House Down premiered in U.S. theaters on Friday.
