Kelly Clarkson ‘Catch My Breath’ Performance: Wind Whips Up Skirt, Free Show Cancelled Due To Weather

Kelly Clarkson was forced to cut her free show short, as heavy rains made it impossible to continue the performance for the Somerset Collection's Microsoft Store opening in Michigan.

According to The Detroit, Clarkson was 20 minutes into her set in the parking lot behind the former Kmart headquarters, when rains became a dangerous downpour.

She was able to sing five songs before she was escorted off stage. During her performance of "Catch My Breath," a strong gust of wind blew up her skirt. "I can't help that!" she exclaimed.

She also sang her hits "My Life Would Suck Without You" and "Walk Away."

"I'll stand out here in the rain with you!" she said when it started to rain. "Well, at least we're not sweating," she joked.

While she was singing "Walk Away," conditions became unsafe and she was asked to leave the stage, The Detroit reports. She announced she was going to wait out the rain, but a few minutes later an official said that Clarkson would not be returning on stage.

No makeup performance is scheduled, but Clarkson will be back Aug. 28 at DTE Energy Music Theatre, alongside Maroon 5.

Clarkson later apologized on Twitter for cutting the show short.

She tweeted: "Sorry Detroit about the rain! Wow, it was coming down hard at the end! Thanks 4 hanging in as long as we all could!"
