Glastonbury Festival 2013 Headliners: Rolling Stones Debut, Mumford & Sons Perform For First Time Since Brain Surgery, Scorching Temperatures, And Crimes

Glastonbury Festival 2013 draws to a close today, June 30, and was a music festival to remember, with The Rolling Stones debut performance, temperamental weather, and an A-list lineup.

The Rolling Stones played their first-ever headline set on Saturday night at the U.K. music festival Glastonbury, HollywoodReporter.com reports.

Critics gave the rock legends rave reviews. Accorinding to The BBC, the band played for two hours and 12 minutes, with 20 songs, in front of more than 100,000 people.

The Telegraph said the Stones "blew the stage apart" as they "thrilled festival goers," pulling off "one of the greatest rock and roll sets that Glastonbury has ever seen," HollywoodReporter writes.

The Guardian said: "The Stones have enough sense of occasion to know that this is a show they can't phone in."

Their memorable performance was followed by scorching temperatures. According to Metro News, the heat reached the mid-twenties in Celsius (high-70s to mid-80s in Farenheit), and emergency services reported a number of cases of heat stroke and exhaustion across the 1,000 acre site.

Another setback of the festival were the crimes. At least 160 crimes were reported at the festival, but this number was 30 percent less than the number of crimes from the previous festival in 2011.

Of these crimes 89 were tent thefts, Metro News reports. There have been more than 100 arrests. Inspector Shirley Eden from Avon and Somerset Police said: "It's down to us targeting certain areas and sharing intelligence with colleagues who police other festivals."

Mumford & Sons will bring the Glastonbury Festival to a close Sunday, The Huffington Post reports. Others that will perform on the last day include Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Bobby Womack.

It is the first Mumford & Sons performance since bassist Ted Dwane had surgery for a blood clot on his brain earlier this month, resulting in the band having to cancel a slew of shows.

Other notable headliners at the festival included the Arctic Monkeys, Portishead, Chase & Status, The XX, and Public Enemy.
