Cirque du Soleil performer killed in Las Vegas show Saturday, authorities said.

The Cirque du Soleil performer killed in Vegas was 31-year-old Sarah Guyard was pronounced dead before midnight Saturday. The accident happened during the show's finale, Cirque Du Soleil spokeswoman Renee-Claude Menard told CNN.

The Cirque du Soleil performer killed when the performers were suspended up to 50 feet in the air, on lines controlled by wireless remote controls, according to the troupe's website. Something went wrong during this scene, but authorities have yet to release details of what possibly went wrong.

Guyard performed around the world for more than 20 years, according to a Cirquefit website. The Cirquefit website said the company is a circus and fitness program for kids. Guyard was a teacher there.

"No words. My boys loved every moment in Miss Sarah's class. Deepest sympathies to her loved ones," wrote one of the parents of children who had Guyard as their teacher.

"We will miss her terribly! She was an amazing teacher!" wrote another.

Her nickname was Sassoon. She was part of the original Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. The company's creations have received numerous prizes and distinctions, including a Bambi Award in 1997, a Rose d'Or in 1989, threeDrama Desk Awards in 1991, 1998 and 2013, three Gemini Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 

According to Cirque Du Soleil, the performances are dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment. 

"We are reminded, with great humility and respect, how extraordinary our artists are each and every night. Our focus now is to support each other as a family, " Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté said in a statement.
