"You could tell early on that he had it going," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "That's as good of a game as you can pitch, unless it's perfect."

Jose Alverez will pitch for the Tigers after coming off his first loss of his career. He has a 3.78 ERA with a 1-1 record in three starts filling in for Anibal Sanchez.
