'Doctor Who' 50th Anniversary Stars Matt Smith And David Tennant Compete For 'Best Actor' In 2013 TV Choice Awards, Who Would You Pick?

As "Doctor Who" fans eagerly await the 50th Anniversary Special featuring Matt Smith and David Tennant, they can see the pair battle it out at the 2013 TV Choice Awards for their performances in "Doctor Who" and "Broadchurch."

According to Digital Spy, both Smith and Tennant have been nominated in the 'Best Actor' category along with "Mr. Selfridge" actor Jeremy Piven and Brendan Coyle for "Downton Abbey."

Matt Smith's current Doctorly companion, Jenna-Louise Coleman, is also nominated for 'Best Actress,' but she's got heavy competition as well with Olivia Colman ("Broadchurch"), Miranda Hart ("Call the Midwife"), and Sheridan Smith ("Mr. Biggs").

In order to determine the winner, viewers have to cast their votes here until July 12.

Other categories include 'Best Drama Series,' 'Best Daytime Show,' and 'Best Food Show.'

The "Doctor Who" stars find out who is the winner on September 9 at The Dorchester in London.

Recently, Matt Smith announced his imminent departure following the 50th Anniversary Special, although Jenna-Louise Coleman is set to return for season 8.

"Great actors always know when it's time for the curtain call, so this Christmas prepare for your hearts to break, as we say goodbye to number Eleven. Thank you Matt, bow ties were never cooler," said Steven Moffat following Smith's departure announcement.

"Of course, this isn't the end of the story, because now the search begins. Somewhere out there right now, all unknowing, just going about their business, is someone who's about to become the Doctor. A life is going to change, and 'Doctor Who' will be born all over again! After 50 years, that's still so exciting!"

No doubt Matt Smith and David Tennant have bonded over their alumnus status.
