A pedophile killed himself in court moments after being found guilty. The Missouri man took a cyanide pill moments after he was convicted of sodomizing a 14-year-old girl.

Moments after the "guilty" verdict was reached in the sodomy case, Steve Parsons, 48, collapsed into a heap on the floor in front of the entire court. Parsons allegedly swallowed a cyanide pill, authorities believe.

Parsons started convulsing due to the poison, then quickly died, shocked onlookers said.

Gentry County Prosecutor Jerry Biggs said to press he was "quite surprised and disappointed and unhappy and sorry. Sorry for the victim. Sorry for her family."

The alleged pedophile had just been found guilty of two sodomy counts for raping a fourteen-year-old girl. He was sentenced to up to seven years.

"I can't speculate on what he was going through but I am firmly convinced that his death was not a result of a wrongful verdict by the jury," Biggs said.

Authorities believe Parsons likely walked into court holding the pill in his mouth in order to escape detection from security guards.

Soon after Steve Parsons died, Nodaway County Sheriff Darren White discovered he had bought 100 grams of cyanide from an online store last week.  He had his purchase overnighted to him.

The alleged pedophile killing himself  in front of the courtroom right after being sentenced was caught on video. The video has not yet been released.
