Elder Scrolls Online Release Date: Gameplay Includes ‘Pack Mentality’ Monster Behaviors, Allows Gamers To Swap Roles The Elder Scrolls Online will feature a skill system that allows players to be multi-functional in the roles they choose, Polygon writes.

The Elder Scrolls Online will feature a skill system that allows players to be multi-functional in the roles they choose, Polygon writes.

The game's monsters will operate on a "pack mentality," meaning that all enemies within a room are aware of each other and will fight back when one is attacked, Polygon also writes.

"In any MMORPGs, players are locked into performing one role in a group, whether they focus on damaging enemies (DPS, or Damage Per Second), keeping their allies in the fight (healing) or drawing the attention of enemies away from more vulnerable characters (tanking)," a blog post on the game's website announcing the statement reads.

"These roles are still important for a successful dungeon group in 'The Elder Scrolls Online,' but our open-ended skill system gives you much more flexibility. With the right combination of weapons and abilities, you can change your role on the fly to support your group's needs."

The Elder Scrolls Online is a multiplayer role-playing video game, published by Bethesda Softworks, which will take place a millennium before its predecessor game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Bethesda Softworks announced in the game's development in May 2012 but won't be released until the spring of 2014. The game's publisher has not announced an official release date but has mentioned it is expected to be available on next-generation consoles PS4 and Xbox One.
