Miley Cyrus got big praise from rapper Nicki Minaj at a Fourth of July event in New York City.

E! News talked to Minaj at the event, where she is promoting the new drink brand Myx Fusion.

"OMG! Miley is sooooo cute and every time I see her I say again and again that she is so damn cute and down to earth. I really love her," Nicki said, E! News reports. "What a compliment that was to me. I really love her back. Thanks Miley!"

Miley has called Minaj one of her biggest influences in the past, and Minaj gushed about her love for the 20-year-old pop star. Miley told Billboard.com that Nicki was one of her top five favorite female singers, including rapper Lil' Kim, according to E! News.

"Nicki is now my Lil' Kim of my generation so that's cool," Miley said.

Fans have compared Miley to Nicki after the music video for her hit single "We Can't Stop" seemed to imitate the style that Nicki introduced into the music world, including Miley's twerking.

"A lot of people wanted to try to make me the white Nicki Minaj," Cyrus told Billboard. "That's not what I'm trying to do. I love 'hood' music, but my talent is as a singer."

Miley's hip-hop transformation has also been given a few thumbs up by Nicki.

"She looks very sexy and sassy in her new video," Minaj said. "I love it! I love her new look, she is really all grown up. I love that she cut her hair. Some people were iffy that she cut it, but I love people that have the balls to do whatever they want."

Nicki didn't forget to also talk about Miley's twerking skills, which she loves to show off on stage and in her video.

"I can tell now Miley is really developing into her own self," added Minaj. "I love her twerking moments. That's what is all about being an artist."
