Nexus 7.2 Tablet Release Date Rumors, Specs: Asus Rep Says K009 Is Latest Nexus Tablet, Device Will Be Launched July

The rumored release of a new Nexus 7.2 tablet could become a reality this month, according to a leading industry blog.

An Asus customer service representative revealed the company’s plan for a new Nexus 7 in earlier reports. On Monday, Gotta Be Mobile claimed that another Asus representative said that a Nexus 7.2 device would come out soon.

The said Asus employee was responding matter-of-factly to an inquiring consumer, according to the blog.

The mobile industry news site said that the most telling information though has been an FCC filing that displayed a device called the Asus K009. The overall appearance and design is very similar to the Nexus 7 and apparently, based on the filing, will carry the Nexus branding.

Recent reports point to a July release for the new Nexus tablet. Rumors say that it will possibly arrive alongside the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, which many speculate will come out in the next few weeks.

For months, the tech giant has been rumored to be releasing a new Nexus 7 tablet, which was earlier dubbed as Nexus 7, Nexus 7 HD and Nexus 7.2. The latest round of rumors prior to the Google I/O point to a release at the company’s developers’ conference. But the event came and went without a major Android update announcement or a new Nexus 7 tablet.

Based on Gotta Be Mobile's collection of reports and rumors, the new Nexus 7.2 tablet widely rumored and discussed in tech circles is the K009.

The new tablet is expected to come with a 7-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 600 processor, 5MP camera, and 4G LTE speeds, all of which are upgrades from the original Nexus 7.
