Beyoncé and Solange Knowles Skip Dad’s Wedding Due To ‘Previous Engagements,’ Though ‘Grown Woman’ Singer Had No Performance That Day

Beyoncé and Solange Knowles skipped their dad's wedding last weekend. Solange and Beyoncé had performances this weekend.

Mathew Knowles got married on Sunday, but according to TMZ neither of his daughters were present for the ceremony.

Mathew explained to TMZ why his children couldn't make it on the big day: "Unfortunately, Beyoncé and Solange had previous engagements which made it impossible for them to attend."

Beyoncé didn't actually have a performance on Sunday, June 30, when the wedding took place. However, she has a performance tonight for her "The Ms. Carter Show" world tour.

Solange  played at the Superdome on Saturday for Essence Fest.

Mathew got married to Gena Avery in Houston, Texas. They were engaged for a year and a half.

Mathew officially divorced Tina Knowles, the mother to Solange and Beyoncé, in 2011, after 31 years of marriage, The United Press International reports. Tina originally filed for the split in 2009.

Mathew was Beyoncé's manager until she fired him in June 2011.

"I've only parted ways with my father on a business level," Beyoncé said at the time. "He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me. I grew up watching both he and my mother [Tina Knowles] manage and own their own businesses. They were hard-working entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps."
