Andy Murray Wins Wimbledon: Watch Victory Speech 77 Years In The Making For One Of Britain's Own 'He Was A Better Player In Decisive Moments' [VIDEO]

Andy Murray wins Wimbledon in historic fashion as the first Brit to win in 77 years when he defeated the number-one ranked player in the world, Novak Djokovic.

Coming off the 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 sweep in sets as Andy Murray wins Wimbledon, England can celebrate as one of its own won the title. This was the first time in 77 years that somebody from Great Britain hoisted the trophy as the man from Scotland won it on Sunday in his home. Fred Perry won the last of three in a row in 1936.

"I still can't believe it," he told USA Today a couple of hours after Andy Murray wins Wimbledon. "Can't get my head around that."

Murray almost ended the drought a year ago, but lost to Roger Federer in five sets. Following that heartbreaking defeat, Murray went on to win a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics. He then followed that with a U.S. Open victory, defeating Djokovic in the finals and now his second Grand Slam title.

The Olympics took place at Wimbledon, so it was less than a year later that Murray made history on the grass again.

"The bottom line is that he was a better player in decisive moments," Djokovic told USA Today. "He was all over the court."
