Cube World Download Sabotaged: Servers Under Attack To Prevent Selling Of The Voxel-Based RPG, According To Developer

Cube World download for alpha access has been out for few days now but it has been a rocky one with several server downtimes. Also, successfully purchasing the game has been very difficult for interested gamers.

At first, the developers thought that the problem with Cube World download is that there are too many visitors trying to get the cute and highly-anticipated voxel-based RPG game all at the same time. However, it turned out that the problem with Cube World download is that "someone has been consistently bombarding the servers with an intentional distributed denial of service attack," Game Politics reported.

Wollay Funck, the developer of voxel-based roleplaying game, Cube World told to Kotaku, "Initially we assumed the fault was on our side, like our download/updating system could be broken, so we closed the sale and improved our system.

He further added, "But it turned out that all these problems were the result of DoS attacks. It seems that someone is trying to systematically damage us and our business. The attacks usually occur during evening/night as soon as we open our store or user registrations. The attackers obviously want to prevent us from selling our game."

"Being just a small team (my wife and me), we didn't expect such things. We just tried to make our game available in its early state in the best possible way, which is on our homepage, where we can directly communicate with the community and provide patches and updates easily."

Wollay also posted a blog on his homepage, titled The Reason for Server Downtime, and it explains, "our server is getting attacked by denial-of-service (DoS) attacks on a regular basis. The attacks usually occur in the evening and at night (European time). Because of that we have to disable user registrations and the shop from time to time, and you will get the message about 'Server Maintenance'."

The man behind the game also assured the fans and interested buyers of Cube World download (alpha version) as he said, "We will try to find a solution as soon as possible."

Wollay also shared how they are dealing with the Cube World download and purchase problem to Kotaku, "Fortunately, we can sell the game outside of the attacks without problems, and, we're now extending our servers and team to handle the remaining issues. We don't have an ETA for this yet."

While Wollay is trying to fix the issue, the servers for the alpha version of Cube World download remain down and the shop is currently offline.
