Legend Of Korra Cosplay [VIDEO]: The Costumes And Tutorial On Making Your Own For Comic-Con And Anime Con

In the world of Comic-Con, anime cons and "Legend of Korra," cosplay remains a massively popular tradition, and co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino love the work fans put into looking like their creations.

Coplay is so popular, in fact, that franchises like "Legend of Korra" often hire "walkaround" models dressed as the fictional characters to take pictures with fans and get the buzz going.

In this post on Bryan Konietzko's Tumblr, you can check out a model from the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con and the many cosplays and great costumes they encountered.

For many, events like Comic-Con and anime cons allow them to express who they are, or simply play a part for the weekend, without judgment. Cosplay is an extension of that philosophy, something which DiMartino notes to be especially important.

"It's...a place where fans come to meet the creators of the things they love, express themselves through cosplay, and pursue their dreams as artists and future creators," writes DiMartino in a Tumblr post.

"They didn't feel weird or worry they'd be made fun of. They felt like they could really be themselves, which is a pretty beautiful thing."

So how does one exactly make a "Legend of Korra" costume?

Fortunately, cosplay veterans have provided many costume tutorials, particularly for Korra.

One particularly useful item is this book which provides sewing patterns, some of which fit Korra's look.

Otherwise, you can find tutorials online for Korra cosplay costumes here and here.

So for anyone who feels unable to dive into the world of "Legend of Korra" or cosplay, the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con may be your chance to join the fun!
