Nexus 7.2 Tablet Release Date Rumors, Specs: Asus K009 Is Next Generation 4G LTE Tablet, To Be Released This Month

The Nexus 7.2 tablet’s rumored release date seems to be getting closer as buzz increases that the Asus K009 is the 4G LTE version of the next generation Nexus 7 tablet. Google has not confirmed anything about the rumors but according to the International Business Times, a Bluetooth Special Interest Group for the device has been identified.

A report from the Eastern Morning Herald said that the earlier leaks of a photo alleged to be the Nexus 7.2 tablet is actually a glimpse of the much-awaited device. It is expected to hit the stores this month; all the rumors that the Asus K009 is indeed the new Nexus 7.2 device began last week.

Two Asus devices, namely the K008 and the K009 were listed under the Bluetooth SIG and FCC certifications, according to the International Business Times. The filing of the K009 under the Bluetooth SIG does not directly indicate that is the tablet for Nexus, but the timing doesn’t seem to be a coincidence.

Many rumors and reports have noted that the new Nexus tablet will be released this month.

There have been earlier reports that an Asus rep confirmed that the K009 is the new Nexus 7.2 Tablet. But neither Google nor Asus higher-ups have confirmed that the leaked photo is indeed the K009 or the newest iteration of the Android-powered device.

Eastern Morning Herald said that the image, however, suggests that Google Nexus 7.2 will look like the previous edition. Speculations have noted that the processor specs for the tablet include Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core instead of the Nvidia Tegra quad-core.

Many are still hoping that Google will come up with a more powerful processor setup for the tablet, reported the Business Times. It was earlier rumored that the search giant will be using the Tegra 3 quad-core in the initial Nexus instead of the Qualcomm powertrain of some sort.

If in case the leaked images are true, sales and appeal of the new Nexus tablet are uncertain. Feature placements and design language almost the same as the first will not offer consumers anything new. Other features said to be seen in the new device are are: 7-inch display, 1080p, 1.9 megapixel camera, 5 megapixel rear camera, Wi-fi /4G LTE versions and a 4,000 mAh battery.
