Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Rips Dwight Howard: 'Potential Has A Shelf Life' Add To Shaq And Kobe Diss On New Rockets Center

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar rips Dwight Howard on Monday, which adds to the list of former Lakers and especially former big men that apparently aren't the biggest fans of the former multiple-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

Dwight Howard signed with the Houston Rockets last week, thus no longer staying with the Los Angeles Lakers for a second season. This caused current and former Lakers to rip him, which included Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant and now, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

"Dwight Howard is a perfect example of the fact that 'potential has a shelf life.' Laker fans should be patient and allow Mitch [Kupchak, the general manager of the Lakers] and company to prepare themselves to do some serious work in the free agent market," Kareem Abdul-Jabbar rips Dwight Howard via a Facebook post.

The Lakers legend dissed Howard, but also tried to be positive about the future of the L.A. franchise. He was also referring to the summer of 2014. That is when all of the Lakers' contracts except for Steve Nash's come off the books. This includes Kobe Bryant's $30.4 million and Pau Gasol's $19.2 million.

The free agent market will include plenty of top talent, including LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony and Danny Granger.

Following the Dwight Howard Facebook post by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the Lakers used the amnesty clause on Metta World Peace. This freed up $7.7 million more for the upcoming season's salary cap.

When O'Neal was asked about Howard's departure from L.A. he wasn't afraid to share his thoughts.

"It was expected," Shaq said. "We've all been in L. A., and not a whole lot of people can handle being under the bright lights. Everybody wants to do it, but when you get there, there are certain pressures. I think it was a safe move for him to go to a little town like Houston. That's right, little town. I said it."

There was also the report about how current Lakers star Kobe Bryant unfollowed Dwight Howard on Twitter after Howard signed with the Rockets.

"I wish d12 the best honestly. I just find it hard to follow players that wanna kick my teams ass #thatsjustme," Bryant tweeted about Howard on Monday.
