The pesticide canisters were found in the Piao Liang Ren Sheng Beauty Salon, located at the back of the 1st floor of the building, the fire officials have stated.

Wang Xiag, a resident from the New York building that partially collapsed told the investigators that she put out 2 dozens of bug bombs on Wednesday, but apparently, it did not work, so she put out another 24 again the day after before leaving her house.

Furthermore, the report said, citing a source, that "Improper use of the cans - which release gas to kill roaches and other bugs and are flammable - "blew out a load bearing wall" in the five-story structure." The source have also said that the "aerosol from the canisters is believed to have ignited on a pilot light."

Jinjoo Yang, a resident who is living next door described the explosion to Fox News, saying, "I heard a big sound. It sounded like something big fell from the next floor. I felt the whole floor shaking."

Moreover, another resident told that the explosion that lad to a New York building collapse was "like an earthquake."

Apparently, the New York building in Chinatown already had fire code violations, according to Assistant Fire Chief Robert Boyce who said, "We did have existing code violations for this building and we are looking into that." The fire official did not make any further elaborations on the building violations.
