Samsung Galaxy S4 Updates: Verizon and AT&T Roll Out Software Upgrades; Transfer of Apps To MicroSD Cards Now Possible

Verizon and AT&T just released Samsung Galaxy S4 software updates.

According to Android Community, software updates for Samsung Galaxy S4 have already been rolled out by top network carriers in the US, AT&T and Verizon.

Verizon called its Samsung Galaxy S4 update as Software Upgrade Assistant. Verizon users who are interested to get the Samsung Galaxy S4 updates can go to this link to for the instructions. However, Verizon's update is not available over the air (OTA), but it is expected to arrive this week. Report says that currently, "Verizon's PC and MAC desktop installer has the update reading and waiting." System requirements for those interested to get the Samsung Galaxy S4 updates are Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, MAC OS 10.6 and later versions.

On the other hand, AT$T users can update their Samsung Galaxy S4 devices through OTA.

This recent Samsung Galaxy S4 update comes in around 350 MB, for both the AT&T and Verizon, providing support for KNOX suite application. Furthermore, these Samsung Galaxy S4 updates, both from AT&T and Verizon include the options to move apps from phone to SD card, helping to free up some spaces on S4 devices running low of memory already.

Aside from these new features, the Samsung Galaxy S4 updates also include new camera firmware with HDR video. Verizon and AT&T users who get the Samsung Galaxy S4 software update will also notice the change in the status bar, which according to reports is now sporting a transparent look.

Accordingly, the Samsung Galaxy S4 software updates could also include the newest security patches from Google. Unfortunately, this latest update will break root access, and any rootkeeper app can't be used.

AT&T and Verizon have not provided a full change log yet for the Samsung Galaxy S4 updates.
