With "The Vampire Diaries" officially starting shooting for season 5, several new cast spoilers have arrived to signal hot new male additions to Mystic Falls.

According to Wet Paint, there's a new professor in town, and he's hot, mysterious, and holds a lot of knowledge on Mystic Falls. Though no name has been given for this new professor, he reportedly believes in aiding mankind through research.

"Elena and Caroline will find college to be much more difficult than they anticipated when they stumble into a class led by a hot, but not-so-nice professor who knows more about Mystic Falls than he's letting on. Does it scare anyone else that his true passion is research that he believes will help humanity?" writes TV Guide.

Is Whitmore College getting a new mad scientist? Er, researcher? With spoilers like this, fan can only hope he doesn't threaten our beloved cast, but that seems unlikely.

In addition, Damon's safety is put into question as a new doctor will be cast who knows all of his secrets, according to Michael Ausiello.

Will this new doctor also grace Whitmore College?

Certainly, actors like Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are hoping not, as they seem happy and excited to be back to "The Vampire Diaries."
