Skydiver Hits Player At Baseball Game In Viral Video, Ending Shortstop's Season [WATCH]

Skydiver hits player in a new viral video. A skydiver accidentally hit an amateur baseball player in the face while parachuting-ending the baseball player's season. Watch a video that has gone viral on YouTube of the incident below.

The skydiver hit the player while landing in Samuel Clemens Field in Hannibal, Mo.. before a Prospect League baseball game.

Mattingly Romanin, the 20-year-old shortstop, had his season cut to a halt when he was landed on by the skydiver. He won't be able to play for the rest of the summer.

"Obviously I was a little upset and kind of frustrated about how the whole situation developed," said Romanin. "It was a freak accident. It happens. There's nothing really I can do, I've just got to move on and make sure I'm healthy and ready to play."

As the incident occurred, Romanin and his Hannibal Cavemen teammates were on the field as the national anthem was played.

The three local skydivers dropped onto the field. The first landed as expected

The second, however, dropped close to players. He nearly landed on a group standing behind second base. Members of the skydiving crew told Romanin to stand still because the divers would miss him, and he did initially. Romanin said he tried to duck at the last moment, but by then, it was too late. The skydiver hit him near his temple and knocked him over.

The jumpers made multiple mistakes, apparently. They were supposed to arrive with an American flag at the end of "The Star Spangled Banner," but they were late.

The skydiver also almost hit other players including second baseman Jake Mangler and third baseman Jerod Smith.

"It's all fun and games until the skydiver takes out your starting shortstop," tweeted Hannibal teammate Josh Tol after in incident.

Romanin suffered a concussion. It was his first season with Hannibal-he's from Burlington, Ontario.
