PS4 Vs. Xbox one Specs: Self-Publishing To Boost Microsoft Sales? Indie Game Developers Can Publish Work On Next-Generation Console

Microsoft will allow independent game developers the chance to self-publish their own products on the Xbox One, Kotaku reports, a move that is rumored to boost Microsoft's sales of the next-generation console.

"Our vision is that every person can be a creator. That every Xbox One can be used for development. That every game and experience can take advantage of all of the features of Xbox One and Xbox LIVE," Microsoft announced in a statement.

This means self-publishing. This means Kinect, the cloud, achievements. This means great discoverability on Xbox LIVE. We'll have more details on the program and the timeline at gamescom in August."

But Microsoft might still be at a disadvantage in regards to gameplay sharing.

The Playstation 4 records 15 minutes of gameplay continuously, which you can use to edit and share online, while the Xbox One records only five minutes of gameplay, the International Business Times reports.

Sony's next-generation console might have an advantage over its competitor since gameplay sharing services are growing in popularity among many gamers.

A Sony representative released the information during an interview with CVG.
