Doctor Who Hires New Writer For Season 8? Jack Lothian Updates Resume After Skins, Beaver Falls, Sinbad, And Shameless Credits

As "Doctor Who" prepares for the 50th Anniversary and Christmas Special, reports are surfacing that a new writer will be joining season 8 next year.

Meet Jack Lothian, whose writing credits include "Shameless," "Sinbad," and "Skins."

On his online resume with the Curtis Brown Literary and Talent Agency, the writer has updated his CV to include "Doctor Who" season 8.

Funnily enough, it says starring Matt Smith next to the credit, even though we all though the 11th Doctor will be leaving the show once season 8 rolls around.

Lothian was rumored to be a new writer for "Doctor Who" last season, but that never came through for whatever reason.

But it looks like along with a new Doctor, a new writer in indeed in the horizon, hopefully for Lothian.

In talking about "Doctor Who" season 8, Steven Moffat had a few more tidbits to say regarding its progress, and the return of characters like Clara, Vastra, Strax, and River Song.

"The scripts [are] coming in, we know what we're going to do and how it's going to end, and what it's building to," confirmed Moffat during a Comic-Con interview.

In addition, Moffat is confident that the transition for the 12th Doctor, after Matt Smith's exit, will be a smoother one.

"This time I've made sure we've got a bunch of characters around him so that we can have a new Doctor introduced and we can push that Doctor a bit further if you've got a familiar world around him," he said according to DoctorWhoTV.

And although it is not 100 percent cemented, Moffat hinted at the return of Clara (played by Jenna-Louise Coleman), Vastra, and Strax for "Doctor Who" season 8.

In talking about the 12th Doctor, Moffat said that the search had "barely begun" for the season 8 role.

"You don't want to be doing that while the media fury is going on...you kind of want to sit tight while that's going on."
