Playstation 4 Release Date Rumors: December 13 Launch Date Kills Sony Profits? Study Shows Over One Third Of Americans End Holiday Shopping By December 7

Playstation 4 release date rumors are circling around a possible December 13 launch but one study shows that Americans end their holiday shopping on December 7, TellMeNews reports.

"For one, it would be too dangerous for Sony to release the PS4 by mid-December, despite its obvious advantage of being $100 more affordable; if the PS4 drops by December 13, that wouldn't give Sony enough time to ensure stocks are sufficient ahead of the Christmas season, particularly in America," the website writes.

"It would also be too late for most holiday shoppers, as recent studies show over one third of Americans are finished with their Christmas shopping by the first week of December."

And after Monday, August 5 there'll be no guarantee that pre-ordering a PlayStation 4 will get you one before Christmas in the UK, that's according to unnamed retailers speaking to CVG, Metro UK reports.

Sony has not said anything official on the subject, but the insiders claim that the unofficial deadline will affect the whole of the UK and likely Europe and Australasia as well, Metro UK also reports.

Release date rumors also flared when Sony came up with a teaser ad that carries the image of a solar eclipse while also carrying the words 'When Worlds Collide' that gives gamers hope of an early release.
