Paula Patton is now saying it was her idea to get topless with Denzel Washington in the upcoming movie "2 Guns," but did her "Blurred Lines" husband Robin Thicke have a voice in the matter?

In the new movie "2 Guns," which opens in theaters today, Patton plays Deb, a DEA agent and longtime lover of her colleague Bobby, played by Denzel Washington.

In the infamous scene where Thicke's actress wife shows of her breast, Deb questions Bobby if he ever loved her following some serious love making.

Given some time to study the script, Patton decided that it didn't seem realistic for two people who have been intimate before to rush to put on their clothes after a moment of passion.

"You know, you prepare for all these scenes ahead of time and I just thought, 'Gosh, it doesn't seem realistic for somebody who's been lovers with somebody for quite a while and they've just made love and now the conversation's happening that you would have a bra or a top on,'" said Patton Yahoo! Movies. "It just didn't make sense to me, so I thought the natural thing would be to not have one on."

She remembered her willingness to expose her tits came as a bit of a shocker to her on-screen leading man and director/co-star Baltasar Kormákur. In fact, her eagerness to keep it real made Washington want to show off the goods as well.

"I came to set and kind of surprised Denzel and Baltasar, our director," she recalled. "I said, 'No, I'm not going to be wearing a top.' I was like, 'No, I just don't think it's natural.' And then Denzel was like, 'Well, I'm taking my top off, too.'"

Allegedly, Kormákur was relieved by Patton's persistence to take the risk since he didn't know how to go about asking her to do it.

"Seriously?! You think I want you in that top," the director supposedly said to the "Jumping The Broom" star. "For me, that's always what I wanted. It was pretty obvious – I just don't go up to women and say, 'Take off your dress.'"

Washington and Patton previously working together on the 2006 action thriller "Deja Vu" made the topless scene easier due to them already building a good comfort level with one another. However, was it hard for the theatrical stunner to break the news to her real-life main man Robin Thicke?

According to Patton, her husband, who has been receiving a lot of praise and scrutiny for the topless models in his explicit "Blurred Lines" video, supported her putting her boobies on display.

"I called [him] the night before and I said, 'What do you think?' And he's like, 'Go for it,'" Patton said. "He's all about the art in the end."

Thicke wasn't the only one she had to consider in her decision to bare her chest. She also had to give her mom forewarning.

"I just said, 'Mom, you're gonna see my boobies.' She was like, 'OK, I think I can handle that.'"

Patton insists that her choice is all in the name of perfecting her craft.
