PS4 Vs. Xbox One Pre-Orders: ‘Grand Theft Auto 5’ Better For Microsoft? Xbox 360 Gets Higher Pre-Orders For Game Than PS3

Microsoft's Xbox 360 version of "Grand Theft Auto 5" has topped Sony's Playstation 3 version in pre-order sales, leaving gamers wondering if the same outcome will arise for their next-generation consoles.

Approximately 449,209 pre-order copies of "Grand Theft Auto 5" have been sold for the Xbox 360 while 385,915 pre-order copies were sold for the PS3, according to VGChartz.com.

But "Grand Theft Auto 5" isn't the only newly-released game that is being affected by the next-generation console battle between Sony and Microsoft.

Activision has reported that pre-orders for "Call of Duty: Ghosts" are nowhere near the level of success they predicted the game would achieve and they are even blaming the battle between the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One for their misfortune, GamingBolt reports.

Eric Hirshberg, Activision's publishing CEO was quoted, "Our quantitative consumer research indicates that hesitation amongst past COD pre-orderers is primarily due to not knowing which platform they will be playing on, which is natural at this time in the console transition," according to GamingBolt.

As gamers await the release of the next-generation consoles, they are also scrambling for pre-orders after it was announced that August 5 will be the last day to pre-order Playstation 4 consoles in the United Kingdom.
